I started caring for hedgehogs in 2002. In 2006 the charity 'The Hogs Lodge Hedgehog Sanctuary' was launched. I am based in Bordon, Hampshire, and work full time as a bookkeeper. My husband Kevin runs a Gardening Maintenance Service and has been very supportive by cultivating a hedgehog friendly garden, and over the years has helped me raise the many hedgehogs that have passed through my care.

All the hedgehogs we receive in are initially kept in a specially built shed, when they are big enough they are moved into a cold shed, where they either hibernate over winter for release in Spring, or get them ready for release back to the wild. I can cater for up to 20 hedgehogs at any one time.

Sadly due to lack of funds, as of January 2008 we will have to down size and not take in so many hedgehogs during 2008, as we cannot afford to continue as we are on the current scale.

I am now recognised locally as an expert in the care of hedgehogs, and I am called upon throughout the year to help orphaned hedgehogs.

Occasionally, for a few hedgehogs it is not possible to be released; this is normally through a permanent injury or disability that would effect them surviving in the wild.

Our Patron is Councillor Adam Carew.

We would like to thank Adam for his patronage and all the positive support he gives to us.
